My first one is over 20 years old and is in perfect condtion but just wanted another to speed up canning time. I realize the price will turn many people around, however this is a several lifetimes purchuse. With minor care these will last several genterations. It is very safe to use, so much better than a gasket cooker. With the dial it is easy to read and use and you do not have that dang rattle if you have ever used one with the weight on the steam release. With this size you can process alot of food in a short time with two layers of jars (pints, half pints). We can almost all of our meat (chicken, venison, fish, sloppy joe mix, meat sauce) plus veggies, I like it much better than freezing. If I lose power I do not lose food ...
